Why is online learning convenient and practical?Firstly, it is a cheaper solution than stationary learning. You don't have to spend money and time traveling to a language school (time is also money ;) ). Additionally, you can connect to lessons from anywhere in the world (if you are on a business trip, for example, you do not have to take an unnecessary break from learning English). Online lessons are usually cheaper because the language school should not include the costs of maintaining the premises in its hourly rate. Secondly, in lesson 1-1 all the attention is focused on you and your language needs . Thirdly, online lessons provide the opportunity to significantly expand English teaching with interactive solutions.

-
Is learning English online suitable for children and teenagers?Yes, but... For online learning to make sense, children must be focused on learning and know that it is time to learn. Online learning can often be more interesting for children because it is a more interactive form of learning (in the form of fun and games (adapted to age and language level) - which makes children happy with classes , motivated to learn the language and willing to connect. for classes). We certainly need to get rid of the belief that online learning is an inferior and boring form of learning - nothing could be further from the truth.
-
How many times a week do I have to learn English to see results? As often as you want. How can I motivate myself to learn English at home?English is considered the Lingua Franca, it is an international language, the language of business, science and entertainment. More than one and a half billion people use this language. Many times knowledge of English is useful in the workplace (often employers require communicative level English as standard in the recruitment process. Or maybe English comes in handy because you travel a lot or enjoy entertainment (or maybe your favourite actor(s), writer(s), artist(s) speak English - maybe you want to speak the same language as them...). Having a clear goal as to why you want to learn English is one of the most important motivators. Make your goal specific, measurable and achievable. You can create your own learning plan. Use English every day, measure your progress and, of course, reward yourself for your achievements. Remember, a good teacher also plays a sizable role in your adventure of learning English. If you want to learn more, take a look at our blog 'Motivation in learning a foreign language'.
-
What age is best to learn English?Firstly, and most importantly, success in acquiring the desired level of language is not determined by age, but by motivation - without motivation, no matter what your age, you will not succeed in learning English. According to psycho-linguistic research, the best age to learn English is between the first and twelfth years. However, as practice shows, it is not so much age as motivation and time spent learning that determines success. There are certainly some people who find it easier to learn English, if only because of how their brain is structured (linguistic, mathematical, musical predispositions, etc.). A good teacher will recognise what model a particular student learns with and adapt the methodology to it. It is certainly better to start learning English now than to put it off indefinitely.
-
Which form of lesson is better: individual or group? Both are good, but it depends on your assumptions and our attitude to language learning. If we want the feeling of 100% attention from the teacher and a fully adapted pace of the class to our aptitude - then the 1-1 form is better. However, if you want to get rid of the fear of using English (and making mistakes while using it (which is completely normal)), meet new people with similar educational goals, have the opportunity to practice with more people - then the group form is for you. Also, don't forget that we come into contact with an issue, phrase or word more times during group classes than when learning 1-1.

What is the Direct Method? In learning a foreign language using the Direct Method / Communicative Method , the main goal is to acquire the ability to communicate in a foreign language. During classes, e.g. in English, the use of the native language is minimized and certain linguistic reflexes are developed. Which leads to thinking in the particular language we are learning and, as a result, facilitates communication in that language. Direct Method is largely about learning English through conversation. Great emphasis is placed on oral practice and exercises (listening and speaking). About eighty percent of the lessons involve a conversation with the teacher, based on a controlled dialogue. This conversation involves the teacher asking questions based on previously introduced vocabulary (and grammatical issues). So the newly learned material is practiced in an appropriate context and in practice. Classes are held almost exclusively in English. The teacher gives instructions in a foreign language (although, in order not to create stressful situations for the listeners (mainly for those beginning their adventure with English), the teacher may use the native language to some extent). In the textbooks we use , we use interesting questions and answers in a modern and natural language. Listeners use the language in more contexts (honing language use, grammatical structures and collocations). And this makes listeners able to use language creatively, and not in a mechanical and unnatural way. As is commonly known, the best way to learn is to practice, and in the case of a language, to use it, simply to speak it. Students take an active part in the classes, practice listening, speaking, new vocabulary and structures that constitute a statement. In this method, we learn a foreign language just like a child learns his or her first language. So first we hear the words, then we say them (imitating how we hear them), then we learn what they look like (reading) and finally we write them. In short, vocabulary is more important than grammar, and communication is also the most important thing. This method allows us to learn, get to know and acquire the English language.
-
How can I learn English on my own? There are many opportunities to learn English on your own. You can use mobile applications such as Duolingo or videos available on YouTube. You also need to look for opportunities to use this language, create an English-speaking environment, e.g. set English as the system language on your smartphone, or watch films in English. But remember that you must have live contact with another person who uses this language - this is how you will achieve a satisfactory level of knowledge of English. If you don't know someone who can talk to you in English, take advantage of the available language conversation offer.
-
What happens if I am unable to attend classes?Just let us know as early as you can (ideally 24 hours before the class, but we realise that sometimes something unexpected can happen). You can inform us by phone, text message, email. If you inform us then you can make up the lesson at another agreed time, if you do not inform us then unfortunately the lesson is lost.
-
Why do individual English lessons at iLINGUA last 50 minutes? There is simply a scientific reason for this. As an adult, we are able to work and concentrate properly for about 45 minutes, after which time our concentration starts to drop, we learn less well and we start to feel tired. Longer lessons without any breaks are unproductive after this time. This is why we have set the length of language lessons at 50 minutes, in order to better learn, concentrate and assimilate knowledge - to maximise the learning effects and productivity of the time spent in lessons. (That extra five minutes is always a good time to do a little small talk or just answer questions (all related to the lesson and language learning, of course).) But remember, if you want to learn more intensively and efficiently you can always have two lessons in a row, with a 10-minute break of course - this is called productive use of time.
-
Will I receive a certificate after completing the course?Yes. However, you must meet certain requirements. Once you have completed the course, you will need to write an exam and pass it at the appropriate level to qualify for a certificate.
-
How can I pay for the lessons/language course?Depending on which form of payment you choose, you can pay in advance for a package of lessons, after each lesson or monthly (in advance) for the lessons you have taken. Each form of payment is listed on the website and in the process of completing your order. The form of payment is up to you: you can pay by card, bank transfer, blik or any other form of mobile payment. If you are interested in paying by instalments and do not see such an option on the website or in the shopping cart then please contact the office.
-
Can I change my teacher during the course?Yes (we will only ask you to provide a reason).
-
Can I withdraw from studying during the course?Yes. However, we won't let you give up so quickly because we know that learning a foreign language can be demanding; therefore, we will try to help you as much as we can before you give up (maybe we will change the method or the form of the class).
-
Will I receive a bill or invoice?Yes.
